Is T.V. smart for you? Steven Johnson of the New York Times says “Television makes you smarter”.  Where as Dana Steven from ET says “Television doesn’t make you smarter”. Both articles are slightly biased and seem make a simple thing see much more complex, or go to into the subject with no interest in know about the other side.

Steven is constantly stating that T.V. show plots are getting more complex over time. Trying to make a simple plot from any show into a crazy story that only a genius can follow. Most shows i watch now the plot doesn’t even follow into the next episode. Sure every here and there is maybe a three part plot that takes three episode to finish. About most of the time there is no continuation to the last episode. However i can give him lost. That show never makes sense even if you watch it episode after episode. However, he is almost comparing modern shows to shows that occurred twenty years ago. So i can see his outlook on how modern shows plots and more confusing that the plot of a show twenty years ago.

Then there is Dana Stevens, who openly criticizes his work almost without even thinking about it. Saying that television does not make you smarter. She even recommends not to watch to much of it, then says a little joke about how she gets paid to watch tv. I have trouble even following along with her point, and  she almost acts as in she has no care about others opinions. Which gives her a very story biased look. How is someone even going to take into consideration what she has to say. If she has  no interest in the other side of things.

I do however agree with Steven, there are a lot of education networks out there. History Channel, Discovery Channel, even basic kids network have something education on there. From going green, to learning about how things were invented. Like Dana says she never watched TV and go i feel smarter. I have never watched T.V. and said i feel dumber.
